Smacked by a Whale Shark

When working as a producer at Daily Planet, that iconic show from Discovery Canada, I had an unfortunate incident with a whale shark. I had managed to get a variety of shots for the sequence, including tagging of the animal, and researchers photographing the animal. I even had the silhouette shot from down below. But what I still needed was the shot of the animal gently easing away and drifting into the blue. I learned a valuable lesson about filming from above an 8-meter shark: watch out for the tail!
